The Mantel Shoppe, although officially named in 1990, traces its origins to 1988 when Ronald Leopard began building unique fireplace mantelsin a spare room of his home in Springville, Alabama. The initial mantels were crafted for friends, marking the humble beginnings of what would become a trusted name in custom fireplace mantels.
Expansion and Growth
Due to growing demand, Ronald moved the operations into his garage, where The Mantel Shoppe remained for a couple of years. The popularity of his custom mantels necessitated a rapid expansion into a full wood shop, allowing the business to keep pace with increasing orders.
The shop quickly became crowded, yet this didn't hinder our ability to produce an average of 400 fireplace mantels per month. When production reached 600 mantels per month, it became clear that a larger space was essential. We then moved to a facility that could accommodate our growing needs and allow for future expansion.
Our Current Facility
Our current shop is four times larger than the previous one and approximately 40 times larger than the original room where Ronald crafted his first mantel. We share this growth story not to boast but to highlight our commitment to providing dependable products and services that have driven our steady expansion.
